Nice, Place Massena

Place Massena is right in the centre of the city and a very busy spot. It marks the meeting point between the old town and modern Nice and is the place where all buses seem to converge. When we were in Nice, March 2007, it was particularly busy, since the whole centre of the city was being badly disrupted in order to build a tramway.
On one side of the square is a park, called the Jardin Albert 1er with arched rose trellises, shading the paths and benches. Alongside these is a grand fountain and pool area.
Leading off the square are some of the busiest and most exclusive shopping streets in Nice and the centre of Nice's night life.
