This is the Old Town of Nice: the most colourful and historical section of the city - and to my mind, the most attractive.
The streets here are narrower and winding with individual shops, cafes and patisseries. The Flower Market, or Cours Saleya, is situated here each day (you can just see it on this shot), but you have to be up early to catch it: it begins shortly after 6 in the morning and is well over before lunchtime.
You would never know it from this shot, but if you walk through that arch, next to the 'Cote Cours' sign, you are right on the sea front!
