Saint Paul de Vence. From this position, looking over the village's ramparts, you can see a game of Boules (or Petanque) going on in the village, outside the Cafe de la Place.
This village has been the haunt of artists over the years and was well loved by Picasso. The main square here is the Place Charles de Gaulle, which all visitors walk through on their arrival at St Paul.
The site has been occupied since prehistoric times and there is evidence of the existence of the Romans, who called it Castrum Sancti Pauli, or St Paul's fortress.
