Nice, Russian Orthodox Cathedral
This was a bit of a surprise. It is a stunning building, with five onion domes and fantastic, intricate decoration. The contrast between the towers and the palm trees worked very well too.
Apparently, the Russian aristocracy escaped to Nice and built this between 1903 and 1912. This is one of the finest examples of a Russian Cathedral anywhere outside Russia itself. It is a short walk from the train station and about fifteen to twenty minutes walk from the centre of the city.
