The Cimiez monastery is on the top of Cimiez Hill and was built by Franciscan monks. Here you can find a church, cloister and (my favourite bit) a garden, including the monks' vegetable garden. The Franciscan museum here portrays life in Nice from medieval time to the present day. There are great views from here down to the port of Nice. It is a lovely cool spot to be on a hot day and a pleasant relief from the bustle of the city.
Just beyond the olive grove is a monastery with formal gardens, which we really enjoyed. It is a cool, peaceful place with pleasant views down to the city.
