This compass mosaic has been built in the area between the Promenade des Anglais and the harbour, or port area of the city of Nice.
It seems to provide a terminus for the joggers, runners, skaters and cyclists who travel the length of the promenade each day. It is here, that their journey ends, or where they turn around and return the way they came.
To the west, you can survey the entire length of the Promenade des Anglais (about 7km), whilst to the east, you can wander round to the famous old port of Nice, one of the busiest harbours on the Mediterranean.
