Castel Plage is the first (or last, depending on which way you are travelling) beach on the Promenade des Anglais. Either way, it is the most easterly, before the crop of rocks, separating the Promenade des Anglais from the port and harbour area.
The tower-like structure you can see between the buildings, supports a viewing area, which you can visit on your way up to Castle Hill. This area of the city seems to be more residential in nature - there are fewer hotels here and more flats and apartments.
This beach would be a great spot to sit on a summer's evening, with your back against the warm stone of the promenade wall, watching the sun sink, whilst its fading golden hue is reflected in the waters of the Bay of Angels.
